This is my stranger things themed big issue cover.I decided to use the theme of stranger things since it reflects the zeitgeist ( since season 5 has just aired and is extremely popular). As a cultural code I inverted the 'things' on 'stranger things' to reference the upside down, which is something the audience of the show would be able to understand.Furthermore the Christmas lights reflect the zeitgeist but again is a cultural code, referencing the show( since the Christmas lights play a big part of the first season).Since this is set around Christmas, I put the price at £4, and mentioned that its a seasonal special to align with how the magazine is sold for more around Christmas to help support vendors during the holiday season.Also,'The power of the outsider" relates to the idea that the characters in stranger things are outsiders/ don't fit in with other school kids much, just like disadvantaged people which the magazine aims to support , displaying the idea that they arent powerless and that they matter/ can make a difference.
